SEMIRATA in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is an annual seminar and meeting of Deans and Heads of Study Program in the collaboration of 19 State Universities from Western Indonesia. This event could facilitate researchers and stakeholders to communicate and discuss about the development as well as opportunities in the field of research and technology in Mathematics and Natural Sciences. SEMIRATA in 2018 will particularly discuss about “The Role of Science and Technology to Strengthen National Unity and Competitiveness”. Starting in 2018, the seminar event in SEMIRATA will switch from national to international seminar, and be named SEMIRATA International Conference on Science and Technology (SEMIRATA ICST) 2018.

The current condition of science and technology in Indonesia, particularly in Mathematics and Natural Sciences, still requires a special attention. Interaction and communication between researchers from many regions in Indonesia can generate ideas and research collaborations in an effort to address actual issues in science and education of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Research formed from such collaborations will be able not only to promote national unity in Indonesia, but also to improve self-competitiveness to compete in global scale and to fit science and technology as a host in our own country.
